Well, here is Rowan's doll - finished! But what to name him? I had thought Huck or Sawyer to go with Jonah's doll Finn, but now he is finished I'm just not sure. I thought of naming him for a tree like Rowan - Oak, Birch,... ? Do me a favor and leave a comment with a name suggestion.
The body construction was a lot simpler than I thought it would be and he came together pretty easily. I'm quite pleased with him. My sister picked the yarns for the hair and Mom sent it over and I love the wools. There are a couple minor things I'll do differently the second time around, but overall the book "Making Waldorf Dolls" was wonderful and made the process pretty painless. I think making some more of these is in my future, but for now I have four doll house dolls to be Narnia figures for someone else's Christmas to make.
Great doll! Andrew or Andy, Hamisch (scot name meaning supplanter), Mungo (scot name for wolf), Joey (American name for best dog ever)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a scottish name.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest a Scottish name, too! Angus, Fife, Gregor, Hamish, Duncan, Andrew, Douglas (which is also a fir tree!), Rab...there are so many good ones. You could look through a Scottish baby names site for ideas. Whatever you choose, I know he'll love it!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job! I would have suggested Mungo (since it is the name of Scottish saint and means beloved or dear one - the monks he lived with as a child gave him this nickname which melts my heart!) But I let my babies pick their own dolls names - I loved it when they went from calling them dolly, baby, small baby, milky bear, blackish bear etc to giving them "real" names - so I am not good at naming dollies!
ReplyDeleteI am not suggesting this at all, but when Kristy and I were little we played that we were "woodland sprites" all the time. My make-believe husband/boyfriend was always named "Oaky." It's a silly name, so I'm not suggesting it for your beautiful doll, but you brought back a very happy memory.
ReplyDeleteOh I love him and I'm so glad to hear he was "painless" to make. :) I've been wanting to make each of my kids one but have been scared. I will now get that book and I'm so excited. Oh, and my name suggestion would be Wren. Why? Well, I just love it. Its a nature name....a bird name...a beautiful name. I suggested it for a baby and it was a bit too unusual for my husband. :) I always name things the names I'd name kids that he wouldn't....then I still get to have the names in the house. :)
